A Little Bit About Me
My journey with art started at a young age, and
found me spending a lot of time drawing and coloring as a child. But as I
got older, art was slowly replaced with school, friends, jobs and family. By
the time I was in my 20’s art was nearly a distant memory. But that
changed in my 30’s when my mom gave me an unexpected gift of art supplies and
lessons. Those lessons ignited a passion in me I wasn’t aware existed and
I am forever grateful!
During the ensuing years I found pockets of
time to paint (originally only in oils), while raising 3 kids and working full
time. When I retired, I decided it was time to seriously pursue my
lifelong passion for art and also start exploring other mediums. I began with
acrylics, and in the past year and a half I’ve been learning and loving
watercolors.
Nothing could have prepared me for how much I
enjoy watercolor! It makes me smile!!!! I took one class, watched a
ton of videos, read a lot and then joined a nine-month plein air class using
watercolor as my medium. It didn’t take long before I was hooked!!!
This summer I did a lot of sketchbook painting.
I had no idea how much I would enjoy it! For me, it’s been a great
way to capture memories while at the same time improving my drawing and
painting skills.
I have no idea where my art journey will take
me. I do know I will continue sketching and painting and sharing my
art through various venues as well as here on my blog. It’s truly a
passion!
My deepest desire is to use this God-given gift
to create art that blesses and encourages others, along with sharing the beauty
of the world God created. I love transforming the ordinary into the
extraordinary and reminding people of the places they have been, the people
they have met, and the truly remarkable world we live in.
